From a young age, Gabby Edwards knew she wanted to own her own gym. With a background in cheerleading and gymnastics, she was passionate about sharing her love of the sport with others. In college, Gabby gained valuable experience coaching tumbling for middle school and high school cheer teams. But it wasn't until her husband, Alex Edwards, encouraged her to pursue her entrepreneurial spirit that the wheels really started turning. The journey began with a bold decision: selling an extra grill from their wedding registry to secure the first deposit for rent on a small upstairs studio in historic Johnstown. It was a humble start, but Gabby and Alex were determined to make it work. As the gym grew, so did their ambitions. They soon outgrew the studio and moved to a new facility – a former axe throwing venue that Alex and Gabby transformed over a single weekend. One of their proudest acquisitions was a partial spring floor, which would become a cornerstone of their gymnastics and tumbling programs. But what many people don't know is the effort Alex put into equipping their new space. He spent countless hours driving all over the state, scouring for the best gymnastics and tumbling equipment to ensure Gabby's vision came to life. From mats to bars, Alex's tireless efforts helped build a safe and functional space for their athletes to thrive. His dedication to his wife's dream was unwavering, and his contributions played a huge role in Edwards Athletics' early success. But growth didn't stop there. Edwards Athletics continued to thrive, and the couple eventually found themselves outgrowing their second facility. Today, they're proud to call a new, larger space home – a testament to their hard work and dedication. Looking back, Gabby never could have imagined the heights Edwards Athletics would reach. What started as a small dream has blossomed into a vibrant community hub, bringing together kids from all over the county. Edwards Athletics is more than just a gym – it's a place where young athletes can discover their passion for cheer, tumbling, gymnastics, and parkour, and forge lifelong friendships. The Edwards family is grateful for the support of their local community, without which their success wouldn't have been possible.
